Norbeck’s Monthly Newsletter

October 2017 Newsletter

I can hardly believe that we are getting ready to enter into October.  Everyone - kids, parents and teacher, have all seemed to have settled into their lives here at Norbeck.  Friends from last year, have come together again and new friendships are showing up everywhere!

Speaking of friendships, we hope to see everyone tomorrow for our Back to School Picnic (5:30 pm-7:00 pm).  This will be a great time for you to meet and talk to some of the other families here, as well as our amazing teachers.  Unlike our carnival, which is 100% focused on pure fun, our picnic is meant to be more social, giving families and teachers an opportunity to mix and mingle.  We will have some 'independently lead' games set up on the playground as well as 2 food trucks and Ben & Jerry's for you to purchase food from, if you'd like.  Be sure to bring a blanket and/or chairs to picnic on the back field!

While normally we would be seeing the beginning of fall, it seems that summer really wants to linger on.  The kids are certainly not phased in the least, running all around and digging through the sandboxes on the playgrounds!  Even though it's not happened yet, the seasons will change and with the season change, we remind you to make sure the extra clothes in the backpack's are appropriate for weather.

MONTESSORI EDUCATION MONTH
October is Montessori Education month for us.  Each Thursday this month we will be exploring a different area of the Montessori classroom.  These sessions will help you gain a better understanding of 4 of the major areas in a Montessori classroom and even focus on the intent of some specific lessons.  It is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn how each of these areas in the classroom is purposefully designed to teach your little one(s) in a fun and practical way.  The workshops will be held from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and child care will be available.
